1.5 Million Refunded to WCEC Members
The Board of Directors of Wood County Electric Cooperative, Inc. (WCEC) approved the return of 1.5 million dollars in capital credits to its members. WCEC mailed out checks on December 15th, just in time for Christmas. Capital credits are each member’s share of the cooperative’s annual revenue minus expenses (margins).
This year’s retirement brings the total amount refunded to members to over 20 million dollars in the past 17 years.
WCEC is a non-profit, locally owned, and locally controlled electric utility. Members, who are also owners, benefit directly by sharing in the margins of the cooperative.
Debbie Robinson, WCEC CEO/General Manager, says, “Capital credits are one example of what a rural electric cooperative is all about. We are pleased to continually return capital credits to our members.”
Wood County Electric Cooperative serves over 31,000 meters in nine counties throughout northeast Texas including Camp, Franklin, Hopkins, Rains, Smith, Titus, Upshur, Van Zandt, and Wood County. For more information on capital credits click here.
