WCEC MAKING PLANS FOR ETREYS

Wood County Electric Cooperative, Inc. along with eight other east Texas cooperatives is

making plans for the annual East Texas Rural Electric Youth Seminar (ETREYS) scheduled

for the last week in June at Lon Morris College in Jacksonville, TX.  Annually, WCEC sponsors, all expenses paid, 10 eligible students.

ETREYS is designed to foster positive ideas and values among young people and to enhance skills in leadership, problem-solving and interpersonal relationships in a wholesome environment.

High school sophomores and juniors attending schools in the WCEC service area are eligible to participate. Participants are selected on the basis of overall excellence. The seminar consists of workshops, presentations and peer group activities. Several functions and free-time activities are also planned to develop friendships and provide fun and relaxation.

Speakers include nationally-known personalities, college professors and community leaders. The session topics range from leadership development to pure entertainment.

At the camp, students also have the chance to compete for over $5,000 in scholarships. Everyone that attends the seminar has the opportunity to leave better equipped to take leadership roles in their schools and community.

Interested students should contact Paige Eaton (903-763-2203), or their high school counselor, for an application.
