RUSHING WILL REPRESENT WCEC IN WASHINGTON
Macie Rushing, a Quitman high school junior, will represent Wood County Electric Cooperative at the Government in Action Youth Tour in Washington, D. C., June 8-16, 2006.
Rushing was chosen by an independent panel of judges based on her essay that answered the question, “What are your goals for the future and why would you be a great cooperative representative for the Youth Tour?”
Macie is the daughter of Darrell and Pam Rushing of Quitman. She is an honor student and is actively involved in her high school and community.
Macie is a member of the Debate and Speech Club, and participates in Lady Bulldogs varsity basketball. She has served as class officer, Fellowship of Christian Athletes officer, and is a member of the National Honor Society. She is a member of the First Baptist Church in Quitman where she is active in the youth department. Upon graduation, Macie is planning to attend Texas A&M University, College Station, and majoring in English and Public Relations.
Rushing will travel to Washington, D.C. with approximately 90 Youth Tour winners from other Texas cooperatives. She will have the opportunity to meet her congressional representative and see the Washington Monument, Kennedy Center, Ford’s Theatre, as well as other sights around Washington, D. C.
WCEC CEO/General Manager Debbie Robinson said, “We are extremely proud of this program, the young people who participate, and the educational opportunity it presents.”
