Current Facts
In the late 1930’s, the average electricity user powered one radio, 5 lights, an electric fan, a water pump and an iron. Wow! Times have changed.
Today’s average home uses over 50 electronic devices, including a big-screen TV, electric toothbrush, and others.
Electricity now powers our conveniences, and the necessities of our lives.

Member-Owned & Operated
- Wood County Electric Cooperative is owned by the people it serves.
- Rates are set for system operation and maintenance, not profit.
- Governance is by a 7-member board elected from and by the members.
- Day-to-day activities are overseen by a board-appointed general manager.
