Residential Critical Care Notification & Eligibility Determination

Residential consumers that meet a minimum of the following 2 requirements may be placed on a critical care notification list.

  1. The member has medical equipment with electric or battery backup.
  2. Equipment is required 24 hours a day to sustain life.

To be placed on the critical care notification list for one year, please download the form and fill out the relevant information. Then, have your attending physician fill out the medical section and sign. Return the signed form by mail to:

Wood County Electric Co-op
PO Box 1827
Quitman, Texas 75783

Status Must Be Renewed Manually

Annual renewal is required to remain on the critical care list. Those currently on the list will receive a mailed renewal request annually in October and must return it within 60 days to remain on the list. Those members that sign up between June 30 and October 1, will remain on the list until the following calendar year and will receive a renewal notice then.

You will not receive a notice of confirmation, but may call WCEC at (903) 763-2203 to ensure we received your request, and that your account has been put on the critical care list.

Critical care status does not guarantee an uninterrupted, regular, or continuous power supply. Designation does not relieve a customer of the obligation to pay for electric service and service may be disconnected for failure to pay. If electricity is a necessity, members must make their own arrangements for on-site back-up capabilities or other alternatives in the event of loss of electric service.
