Wood County Electric Cooperative awards college scholarships to high school seniors and adult learners throughout our service territory. For 2019, there are ten $1,000 Power My World scholarships available to high school seniors for any college course of study, two $1,000 scholarships available to high school seniors for technical school, and three $1,000 scholarship available to adult learners. The high school scholarships are available for dependents of members that are full time residents in WCEC’s 9-county service territory. The adult scholarship are only available to members or their spouses that are full time residents in WCEC’s 9-county service territory. When they are available, scholarship applications, including rules and regulations, are available on this website. The high school applications are generally posted in the first quarter of the year they are offered, and the Adult Scholarships are posted in the third quarter.

Power My World Scholarship Terms and Conditions

Wood County Electric Cooperative (WCEC) will award scholarships on the basis of the information provided in the completed application, and the quality and thoroughness of the required essay. Other qualifications include:

  1. Applicant must be a dependent of full time active member with WCEC service for at least six months prior to the application deadline.
  2. Applicant must reside primarily at an address served by WCEC.
  3. Completed applications are due at a date tbd.
  4. Applicants that do not follow all instructions or submit late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
  5. All judging will be completed by an independent panel made up of WCEC Members.

Power Upward Scholarship Terms and Conditions

  1. Applicant must be 21 or older and must be an active member or member spouse living on WCEC’s system.
  2. Applicant must be a full time active member with WCEC service for at least six months prior to the application deadline.
  3. Applicant must reside primarily at an address served by WCEC.
  4. Applicant must be accepted in a college or other post-secondary school with a minimum of 9 credit hours per semester.
  5. Completed applications due at a date tbd.
  6. Applicants that do not follow all instructions or submit late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
  7. All judging will be completed by an independent panel made up of WCEC Members.
  8. Applicant cannot previously have won a scholarship from WCEC.
