Alliances & Partnerships

One of WCEC’s guiding principles is to foster cooperation among co-ops. WCEC is stronger and serves members more efficiently and effectively through our regional and national alliances. The strength that comes from cooperation has never been more effective than it is in the electric co-op realm, where as member-owned non-profits, we all share similar values.

Texas Electric Cooperatives (TEC)

TEC is a not-for-profit statewide association, and collaborates with 68 electric distribution co-ops and nine generation and transmission co-ops that provide electricity to more than three million Texans. TEC was established in 1941 to act as an advocate for members in matters involving the Texas Legislature, United States Congress, and state and federal regulatory agencies. Over the years, TEC has expanded to offer safety and developmental training, publishing the Texas Coop Magazine, hazardous waste disposal, equipment repair, consulting services and procurement/supply chain management. WCEC takes advantage of many of these services. Visit the Texas Electric Cooperative website.

Touchstone Energy

Touchstone Energy is a branding initiative and nationwide alliance representing more than 700 local consumer-owned non-profit electric cooperatives in 46 states. Membership affords WCEC access to world-class and innovative promotional and educational materials and savings from economies-of-scale. Visit the Touchstone Energy website.

National Rural Electric Cooperatives (NRECA)

Co-ops power 56% of our nation’s landmass and serve over 42 million people. NRECA is the national organization representing more than 900 electric cooperatives in 47 states. NRECA has grown to become a powerful resource for research, training, consulting and government relations. Visit the NRECA website.
